Illuminated Globe with Two Maps
The "DUO Globe System", which was patented by COLUMBUS in the 1950s, was the first dual-map system in the world that allowed two different maps to be displayed on one globe.
The consequent further development was the Duplex Map on machine-produced globes in vacuum-forming technology.
The foundation of the DUO system is the color theory, especially the color mixing. Unlighted, the COLUMBUS DUO globe shows you the political picture of our earth. When the interior light is turned on, the colors printed on the inside mix with the colors on the outside, creating a different map image for the human eye - in the case of the DUO it is the physical view of our earth. COLUMBUS prints up to 12 color runs on the inside so that your globe
radiates a pleasant ambiance in the evening.
